This beautiful reproduction poster has been re-mastered from an early 1950s advertisement for American Airlines by commercial artists Charles Parker and Martin Glanzman. The poster features a Douglass Aircraft Company DC7 against a background of iconic Texas images such as cattle, oil wells, and a big-city skyline.

The vibrant colors and detail of this classic image have been painstakingly brought back to life to preserve a great piece of history.

The high-resolution image is printed on heavy archival photo paper, on a large-format, professional giclée process printer. The poster is shipped in a rigid cardboard tube, and is ready for framing.

The 13"x19" and 24”x36” formats are excellent image sizes that look great as a stand-alone piece of art, or as a grouped visual statement. These posters require no cutting, trimming, or custom framing, and a wide variety of these frames are readily available at your local craft or hobby retailer, and online.

A great vintage print for your home, shop, or business!

TEXAS AND AMERICAN AIRLINES HISTORY

AMERICAN AIRLINES

American Airlines was started in 1930 via a union of more than eighty small airlines.

The two organizations from which American Airlines was originated were Robertson Aircraft Corporation and Colonial Air Transport. The former was first created in Missouri in 1921, with both being merged in 1929 into holding company The Aviation Corporation. This, in turn, was made in 1930 into an operating company and rebranded as American Airways.

In 1934, new laws and attrition of mail contracts forced many airlines to reorganize, and the corporation rearranged its routes into a connected system and was renamed American Airlines. Between 1970 and 2000, the company grew into being an international carrier, purchasing Trans World Airlines in 2001.

TEXAS

Texas / Spanish: Texas, Tejas, is a state in the South-Central region of the United States. At 268,596 square miles, and with more than 30 million residents in 2023, it is the second-largest U.S. state by both area (after Alaska) and population (after California). Texas shares borders with the states of Louisiana to the east, Arkansas to the northeast, Oklahoma to the north, New Mexico to the west, and the Mexican states of Chihuahua, Coahuila, Nuevo León, and Tamaulipas to the south and southwest; and has a coastline with the Gulf of Mexico to the southeast.

Houston is the most populous city in Texas and the fourth-largest in the U.S., while San Antonio is the second most populous in the state and seventh-largest in the country. Dallas–Fort Worth and Greater Houston are, respectively, the fourth- and fifth-largest metropolitan statistical areas in the country. Other major cities include Austin, the second most populous state capital in the U.S., and El Paso.

Texas is nicknamed the Lone Star State for its former status as an independent republic, and as a reminder of the state's struggle for independence from Mexico. The Lone Star can be found on the Texas state flag and the Texas state seal. The origin of Texas's name is from the Caddo word táyshaʼ meaning 'friends.'
