This beautiful reproduction poster has been re-mastered from a 1950's Heavenly Valley, Lake Tahoe ski advertising brochure. The poster features an image of a woman with ski equipment by renowned commercial artist Mary Mayo (1924 – 1985). This poster shows the resort’s location as “Bijou, California,” which was the name of the community before it became part of Stateline, California.

The vibrant colors and detail of this classic image have been painstakingly brought back to life to preserve a great piece of history.

The high-resolution image is printed on heavy archival photo paper, on a large-format, professional giclée process printer. The poster is shipped in a rigid cardboard tube, and is ready for framing.

The 13"x19" format is an excellent image size that looks great as a stand-alone piece of art, or grouped as a visual statement. These posters require no cutting, trimming, or custom framing, and a wide variety of these frames are readily available at your local craft or hobby retailer, and online.

A great vintage print for your home, shop, or business!

HEAVENLY VALLEY HISTORY

Heavenly Mountain Resort also known as Heavenly Valley, is a ski resort located on the California–Nevada border in South Lake Tahoe in the Sierra Nevada Mountain Range. It opened for business on December 15, 1955 and has 97 runs and 30 lifts that are spread between California and Nevada and four base facilities.

When Heavenly Valley was opened, the resort featured the legendary Gunbarrel lift and two rope tows. When opened, the resort was located in the community of Bijou, which later became South Lake Tahoe. On New Year's Day, 1968, Heavenly added runs on the Nevada side of the mountain, making it the first ski resort to span two states.

The resort has 4,800 acres within its permit area, with approximately 33% currently developed for skiing, boasting the highest elevation of the Lake Tahoe area resorts with a peak elevation of 10,067 ft, and a peak lift-service elevation of 10,040 ft.

Since 2002, Heavenly has been owned by Vail Resorts, which also operates Northstar California and Kirkwood Mountain Resort at Lake Tahoe and seven other ski resorts in Colorado, British Columbia, Idaho, Vermont, New Hampshire, Washington, Utah, Minnesota, Michigan, and Wisconsin (Vail, Breckenridge, Okemo, Snowbasin, Sun Valley, Mount Sunapee, Crested Butte, Stevens Pass, Keystone, Beaver Creek, Park City Resort (Canyons), Afton Alps, Mt. Brighton, and Wilmot Mountain, Whistler Blackcomb).

With an average of 360 inches of snow annually, and one of America's largest snowmaking systems, their ski season usually runs from mid-November to mid-April.

Heavenly is also notable as the resort where Congressman and singer Sonny Bono died after hitting a tree on January 5, 1998.
